Aj's Story

Alexander James Mclean was born January 9,1978 at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in West Palm Beach , Florida. His father Robert worked at IBM computers , while his mother was working at a near by Hotel .
Although Aj's parents divorced when he was only 4 years old ,that didn't stop him from having a great childhood. He was spoiled rotten by his Mom! Aj's always had a very loving and extending family too .Even though he's an only child he's had his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins . Aj say's his grandmother is the sweetest lady and was like a 2nd mother to him .(His grandmother passed away not very long ago at all , thats one of the reasons why Aj was sufering from deppression and anxeity)
All through school most of Aj's closest friends were female.He admits that he often prefers the company of women to men .This smooth charmer has the power to coax even the shyest girl around to self revelation. And when Aj likes someone at a romantic level WATCH OUT! He's the most romantic ,flirtatious,thoughtful guy in the group. He claims that ,he was raised in a feminine household and was shown to treat women with respect .As he was groing up, him and his mother Denise were very , very close .
Aj never entended singing to be his career , he wanted to be an actor or a dancer .Naturally Aj has NO regrets at all to joing the Backstreet Boys . "We're like brothers" he say's.But he admits sometimes they'll fight over the stupidest things, just like a bunch of little kids . Aj loves to perform for people and making great songs for them that will take them away from all of their problems for a while .But he say's fans that constantnly cry through their concerts confuses him the most .He feels guilty for making them cry .
Aj admits that he likes to stir things up a bit , keeping up with the latest trends and giving the group its edget style, but most importantly it allows him to express his unique personality and individuality .And it certainly
keeps us (the fans)guessing about his next look. True BSB Fans should know that as a child actor on the Nickolodeon series "Hi Honey I'm Home" Aj cut his hair into a bleached blonde mohawk it fit the character he played "skunk".
As most of you probably know Aj is a poet , currently he's working to turn his pages of poetry into music lyrics for future songs for the group: he's written around 100 already! Aj's the first to admit that his looks may be deceiving and taht underneath the colorings and tattoos you're sure to find a sensitive soul and true romantic "I'm the complete opposite of every clean cut, decent looking guy you could ever think of , but what can I say im sentimental to the core " says Aj during an interview .
